There are many reasons people seek counselling services.
My belief is that there does not need to be a problem in order to seek therapy.
My approach is one of being proactive to ensure we are well set up with
appropriate tools and strategies for when life inevitably happens.
Some reasons for counselling can be to manage life transitions, improve personal (physical and mental) health, or seek new meaning in our lives.
I look forward to working with you on your journey to self-discovery, and learning new and meaningful skills.
“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.”
- Andy Rooney
Grief counselling focuses on honouring your loved one(s), and to honour the life you are living in a meaningful way.
Clients will often ask me about the right way to grieve. My answer is a simple one: the right way is the way which works for you.
We are all unique individuals, and as part of that uniqueness, so is our grief. The right way is one which allows you to process your grief in a healthy way, and move forward.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.”
- Helen Keller
Trauma is a very subjective experience, and responses can present in many forms from physical, social, emotional, psychological, and spiritual.
Trauma can leave people feeling that there is no stable ground, which can have the effect of disrupting the way we move around in our daily lives.
Counselling can assist individuals in learning new ways to cope, understanding their traumatic responses from a perspective which allows self-compassion and healing, and to assist you in processing in a safe and secure setting.
“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.”
- Carl Jung
Relationship counselling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship.
Therapy sessions are held with couples, and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.
Communication, like relationships, is ever evolving. As we change and grow over time, so do our communication styles.
Couples counselling is an opportunity to learn new skills and positive ways to communicate, find opportunities to connect, create friendship and intimacy, and deepen your understanding of each other.
When a loved one dies, we can be left feeling alone, isolated, and unsure of what the future may hold. Reaching out for support helps bereaved individuals know they are not alone. We invite you to join our upcoming grief support group and connect with individuals grieving the death of a loved one. It will be a space to connect, share, remember, and honour your losses.
Each week will be themed with varying topics on grief and loss, such as what grief can look like, the impacts of grief, and so much more. The time together will be an opportunity to gain insight through education and connect with bereaved group members.
Before joining this group, we ask that you consider this will be a commitment for the full 6 weeks.
